We promote the social and economic empowerment of women coffee growers by commercializing their coffee and highlighting their work through seasonal branding efforts. We also aim to foster good farming practices, promote collaboration, and care for the environment — all with a strong focus on gender equity.
This has been made possible through our special “Coffee Women” editions, which spotlight the contributions of women in coffee farming and their role as rural entrepreneurs. These editions connect consumers with a meaningful purpose and pay tribute to the highest-quality coffee.

Our History

17In 2017, the first edition of Mujeres Cafeteras was launched by 14 women from different municipalities in the department of Risaralda.

18In 2018, the spotlight was on the coffee produced by the Ocamonte Women Coffee Growers Association (ASOMUCAO) in Santander. A regional meeting was held, bringing together more than 100 women — both members of the association and coffee growers from surrounding areas. Leadership and organizational strengthening workshops were conducted, and fertilizer produced from our organic waste program was distributed.

19In 2019, the brand evolved Mujeres Cafeteras from a special edition into a broader program with greater impact. Coffee purchase volumes increased, and a higher differential price was paid to women coffee growers. In collaboration with the National Federation of Coffee Growers, Bancolombia Foundation, and the Solidaridad Network, we launched a two-year project to strengthen the technical, productive, associative, and environmental capacities of the Women’s Association of Viotá and Tequendama (ASOMUCAVIT). More than 20,000 kg of coffee were purchased from 22 women in Bajo Palmar, Viotá (Cundinamarca), with a guaranteed premium price throughout the project.

21In 2021, we launched the Mujeres Cafeteras product line — a coffee that highlights the work, dedication, and passion of Colombian women coffee growers, reinforcing their role as rural entrepreneurs. This marked a significant milestone in expanding the reach and impact of the program across multiple departments in the country.

22In 2022, we focused on deepening the program’s impact across a network of 800 women, purchasing coffee from 385 of them, all of whom received a differential premium. Additionally, we strengthened the technical and life project skills of 243 participants — including women and their families — through the support of long-standing allies.

23In 2023, we began working with 41 women coffee growers from the department of Valle del Cauca. These women participated in our capacity-building platform, receiving training in gender equality, coffee quality, and financial literacy.

What have we achieved?

Our Mujeres Cafeteras program is present in 9 departments of Colombia: Risaralda, Cauca, Huila, Valle del Cauca, Magdalena, Cundinamarca, Quindío, Norte de Santander and Tolima.

During these 6 years, we have managed to positively impact the lives of more than 800 women beneficiaries through purchasing and more than 370 women beneficiaries through empowerment.

This work has been accompanied by the acquisition of more than 170,000 kilograms of green coffee. Additionally, we have established collaborations with 11 associations and 2 cooperatives from 10 different departments in Colombia.
