Shared value platform

At Procafecol S.A., sustainability is at the core of the business model, reflected in its strategic objective: To generate shared value for coffee growers, employees, consumers, shareholders and business partners.

We seek to be a responsible and sustainable brand through our supply chain by implementing various programs and actions that contribute to these objectives.

Between 2020 and 2021, we built and applied the social and environmental performance evaluation tool to 77 suppliers, corresponding to 29% of the company’s centralized supplier database. After having this diagnosis of good practices in the supply chain, in 2023 we expect to build sustainable procurement guidelines for suppliers.

These will shape the chain’s commercial relationships, taking into account minimum environmental, social and governance aspects. This will have an impact on the improvement of the organizational processes of Procafecol S.A. and the organizations that act as suppliers.

Starting in 2019, we launched our cage-free egg policy, thanks to the support of our suppliers and the animal protection organizations Humane Society International (HSI) and Sinergia Animal. In it, we committed that, by 2025 at the latest, 100% of our egg consumption (including processed eggs and egg-containing ingredients) will come from cage-free hens. So far, we have already switched our shell egg consumption in Bogotá, where 90% of our egg purchases are concentrated, to cage-free eggs.

Inclusive Purchasing

We promote inclusion in our value chain by integrating small enterprises from vulnerable communities, supported by our inclusive procurement policy and
recognized in 2018 with the “Inclusive Company” seal for implementing exemplary practices of inclusion in sourcing.

Since 2017, we have been working to link, in our value chain, small businesses whose members are people in vulnerable situations (in conditions of poverty, ethnic minorities, victims of the conflict, in reintegration route, mothers who are heads of households, young people with disabilities, among others), making their work visible through our products.

In 2018, we were recognized with the “Inclusive Company” seal, awarded by ANDI, its Foundation and Deloitte, in the purchasing dimension, for the implementation of good inclusion practices in the supply of operating inputs for the business.

Additionally, we have an inclusive procurement policy launched in 2019, with which we seek to ensure the inclusion of entrepreneurs belonging to vulnerable communities in all procurement and contracting processes, in a space of competitiveness, flexibility and transparency.
